There are a number of ways to open a remote desktop connection on windows machines For XP, Vista, 7 Open Start Menu\Program\Windows Accessoriess\Remote Desktop Connection For Windows 8 and above Search in Metro for Remote Desktop Connection The Icon will look similar to the one shown here

	Once the Remote Desktop Connection has started you will see this window appear In Computer type ellesmereremote.com then press show options
	The window will how shown extra options Input your Username Username needs to be ellesmere\user.name User.name to be your login username for the computers in the college Select Allow me to save Credentials Then Click Connect
	A new window will appear asking for your college password Enter your password, make sure Remember my credentials is unselected and press OK You will then log into our Remote access servers Remember to LOG OFF when you are finished or you could lose your work!
	When you next run the Remote Desktop Connection the connection settings will be saved alone with your Username Just confirm your password to login To save them to a link on your desktop for quick access select show options
	Unselect Always ask for my credentials Then select Save as Choose where you would like your shortcut / link to be saved and click save Choose Desktop for example under Favorites You will then find your RDP link saved with your credentials already entered.
